Rui Moreira da Silva Coutinho, 67, born in Ribeira Grande, island of São Miguel, holds a PhD
in Volcanology from the University of the Azores, where he is an Assistant Professor, and is part of the Instituto
Research in Volcanology and Risk Assessment (IVAR).
He is a member of the environmental associations Amigos dos Açores and QUERCUS, being
currently member of the board of the Núcleo de São Miguel of QUERCUS. is a member of
Association of Amateur Photographers of the Azores - AFAA, in which he integrated and integrates the direction.
He was Regional Director of Spatial Planning and Water Resources of the VIII Government
Region of the Azores, between 2002 and 2004.
He is the author and/or co-author of several books and scientific articles published in magazines with
scientific arbitration, and more than a hundred technical-scientific reports.
Sérgio Mah (b. 1970) lives and works in Lisbon.
He teaches at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at Universidade Nova de Lisboa
and at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon. He has researched and written about c
ontemporary art themes, with special focus on the domains of image practices and theories.
He was co-director of the documentary series Entre Imagens for RTP 2.
Since 2003, as a curator, he has been responsible for numerous individual and collective exhibitions,
in Portugal and abroad. He was artistic director of Bienal LisboaPhoto (2003-2005)
and PHotoEspaña (2008-2010). He was the curator of the official representation of Portugal
at the 54th Venice Art Biennale (2011) and of the official representation of Portugal
at the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale (2018).
