Presented as part of the 2026 edition of the Imago Lisboa Photo Festival, dedicated to the reconfiguration of photography, Between the Skin and the Document brings together works by Délio Jasse (Luanda, 1980) that question the authority of the colonial archive and the mechanisms of power embedded in the production and circulation of images. Drawing on photographs, postcards, aerograms, passports and identity documents found primarily at Lisbon’s Feira da Ladra flea market, many of them originating from the personal archives of Portuguese people who returned from Africa, Jasse questions the processes of selection, classification and exclusion that determine what history preserves and what it consigns to oblivion.
