The Museum reopens completely to the public on April 20 with an extensive
presentation of the museum collection entitled Portuguese Art. Reasons and
emotions, which occupies the whole building on Serpa Pinto Street spanning a
temporal arc from 1850 to 1980, in a critical approach according to a sustained
work of historical and renewed research of the collection. In the Capelo wing,
the exhibition extends from the 80's to the present, in periodically renewed
appointments of works of artists represented in the collection or on important
loans, privileging painting video, and photography.
On the same date,
Miguel Palma revisits the MNAC with the individual exhibition Transgenic
Collector, in which he revisits the Ocasião installation, exhibited in 2000
at MNAC, recreating it now on the Museum's latest exhibition space, Ala Capelo.
In adjacent rooms, sets of objects are presented from his atelier, stored and
accumulated over time without a predefined orientation. Despite their
disparity, these objects are presented in a configuration that evokes the
museological device, the advertising sphere and the chaotic environment of an
exhibition of used articles.
Between 3 and 20 April the visit to the project installed in the Sonae Room will be free.
