"A Arte sem História"

2026-09-24
2026-09-24

On 24 September, the MNAC - National Museum of Contemporary Art will host the presentation of Art Without History, a publication that offers a critical reflection on how art history has approached women's artistic practices in Europe between the sixteenth and twentieth centuries.

Starting from the recognition that artworks created by women were for centuries overlooked, undervalued, or excluded from dominant narratives, the book revisits the history of the discipline itself and examines how feminist approaches have transformed the study of art in recent decades. By bringing to light the lives, works, and contributions of numerous women artists, the publication highlights the importance of a cultural and historiographical reassessment that acknowledges their place within the broader history of art.

The event will feature the author in conversation with invited guests.
