Biography of the artist

Nikolai Nekh (1985)

Nikolai Nekh (1985, Slavhansk-na-Kubani) lives and works in Lisbon. His artistic practice consists in the production and distribution of images. The main focus of his practice is the trajectories of capitalism and its modes of representation. For the past three years Nekh has been exploring this relationship through Still Life, paying special attention on how daily objects can lose they purpose. When he was thirteen (1998) he moved to Portugal where he held a Bachelor at The Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (Art And Multimedia
department) in 2009 and after he took part in the Independent Study Program at Maumaus from 2009 to 2010. In 2008 he received a prize Novo Banco Revelação.
Since 2017 he is represented by Balcony Gallery.
