Antologias da Memória brings together a range of artists, artistic practices and languages that explore the relationships between identity, territory, memory and heritage.
What is Portugal? Who are the Portuguese? What is understood as heritage? Who selects, recognises and legitimises it as such? What, when, how and who (is) exhibited in museums? Who cleans, watches over and conserves them? And who visits, accesses and makes use of them?
Taking these questions as a starting point, the exhibition turns its gaze towards faces, bodies, lived experiences, and personal and shared memories, both individual and collective, that question and problematise the imaginaries and discourses constructed around what constitutes “Portugal” and “being Portuguese”, as embedded in dispositifs such as the museum. Other ways of being, inhabiting, feeling and belonging thus become visible and audible.
